My tawny spear is hoar of head
With the dust of battle shed;
Hoary age succeeds in truth
To the verdant bloom of youth.

I reach it out toward my foes
And into their hearts it goes;
Like a rope it sinks, to wrest
Lifeblood from the welling breast.
