ACHIEVEMENT'S SILVER CRY, by MARGARETE ROSE AKIN First Line: Within my castled mind a gleaming page unrolls Last Line: Achievement's silver cry vibrates my tongue, my throat. | |||
Within my castled mind a gleaming page unrolls. Success is written large within its curling scrolls, And dares me, line on line, to compass higher goals. The bridge that led across is worn by former strain, With inlaid hollows, where the soul-marks groove and grain -- A telltale struggle pitting both my heart and brain. Ambition's ramparts echo a final bugle note -- Elation whips beyond her leashing castle-moat -- Achievement's silver cry vibrates my tongue, my throat. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...CINQUAIN: SUSANNA AND THE ELDERS by ADELAIDE CRAPSEY A DOUBTFUL CHOICE by EDWARD DE VERE ANSWER TO MASTER WITHER'S SONG, 'SHALL I, WASTING IN DESPAIR?' by BEN JONSON SONNET: 148 by WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE |
