SUNRISE, by BERNICE BAIRD First Line: Have you ever seen the sunrise Last Line: Around each flower sublime. Subject(s): Dawn; Sunrise | |||
Have you ever seen the sunrise On a mighty ocean blue As it pushes back the morning mist To watch dawn's blushing hue . . .? Have you ever seen the sunrise As it climbs the golden steps? Each one a rosy billow Like foamy, lacy nets . . . Well then, you've missed the sunrise A-comin' o'er the mountains; And you have missed it shinin' On the silvery gushing fountains . . . And you have missed the sunrise As it kissed each silvery pine; While its rays spread like a capelet Around each flower sublime. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THIS MORNING, GOD by LAURE-ANNE BOSSELAAR BURNING DAWN by HAYDEN CARRUTH DAWN by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON IN THE GARDEN AT THE DAWN HOUR by EDGAR LEE MASTERS EARLY RISER by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE WORDS WHEN WE NEED THEM by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE CHAUCERS WORDES UNTO ADAM, HIS OWN SCRIVEYN by GEOFFREY CHAUCER |
