MY LIFE'S EXAMPLE, by                 Poet Analysis
First Line: Stand with eyes fixed, the cuckoo calls
Last Line: And hearts grown old and wise.
Alternate Author Name(s): Davies, W. H.
Subject(s): Wisdom

Stand with eyes fixed, the Cuckoo calls –
Let all the world go blind!
Should any search be made at all,
Let it be for the Wind!

At Birdland Corner, where I live,
And daffodils appear –
The hero of my life and dreams
Cries 'Cuckoo' every year.

He is my life's example, and
His spirit fills my place;
That I, like him, would be a voice,
And never show my face.

And let my notes be cries of joy,
Too simple to despise;
That children from their cradles love,
And hearts grown old and wise.
