ESTHETIC EXPERIENCE, by ETHEL MARY DAVIS First Line: Beauty to her was less in rough, gray thunder Last Line: Her more articulate ashes told our blunder. Subject(s): Beauty; Esthetics | |||
Beauty to her was less in rough, gray thunder Than in the little waves along the shoal; Beauty to her was less in words than wonder, Less wonder than a triumphing of soul. In hourly intervals of white desire Her body fell a prey to Beauty's plunder. Afar, pale signals seemed her spirit's fire -- Her more articulate ashes told our blunder. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ESTHETIC THEORIES ART by RANDALL JARRELL ON HEARING THE CLIMATE OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA PRAISED by ETHEL MARY DAVIS DOROTHY DANCES by LOUIS UNTERMEYER EPITAPH ON THE LADY MARY VILLIERS [OR VILLERS] (1) by THOMAS CAREW THE FIRESIDE by NATHANIEL COTTON INSPIRATION by SAMUEL JOHNSON (1822-1882) TO JANE: THE RECOLLECTION by PERCY BYSSHE SHELLEY THE DEAD CHILD by GEORGE BARLOW (1847-1913) IDYLL 16.
