I THOUGHT life's close to find a glad release From pain long borne to fly! Now death has come and bids my troubles cease, I feel afraid to die. What can, my God! what can this world contain To which the heart so clings? As pleasures do to this foul mire enchain, So too can sufferings! Can it be still so sweet the light to view While to the tomb so nigh?
