THREE-FOLD PRAYER, by CAROLINE CAIN DURKEE First Line: Grant to every lonely woman Last Line: In the quest for god and truth. | |||
Grant to every lonely woman Duty-driven to and fro, A suppliant Ruth, a tender maid, Vowing staunchly, unafraid, "Where thou goest, I will go." Grant to every anxious man Intent on tasks before him, An ardent John, a splendid lad, Who seeks his counsel and is glad To follow and adore him. Grant, to each such man and woman, Grace to serve admiring youth, Not as hero sent to guide them But as friend who walks beside them In the quest for God and truth. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...WORDS IN A CERTAIN APPROPRIATE MODE by HAYDEN CARRUTH ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD DON JUAN IN HELL by CHARLES BAUDELAIRE A BOOK OF AIRS: SONG 12.
