TO A VERY YOUNG LADY, by GEORGE ETHEREGE First Line: Sweetest bud of beauty, may Last Line: When thou shalt to thy noon arise! | |||
Sweetest bud of beauty, may No untimely frost decay Th' early glories which we trace Blooming in thy matchless face! But kindly opening like the rose Fresh beauties every day disclose, Such as by nature are not shown In all the blossoms she has blown. And then what conquests shall you make Who hearts already daily take! Scorched in the morning with thy beams, How shall he bear those sad extremes, Which must attend thy threatening eyes When thou shalt to thy noon arise! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...UPON THE DOWNS by GEORGE ETHEREGE CONTRA MORTEM: THE COMING OF SNOW by HAYDEN CARRUTH THE POET'S TESTAMENT by GEORGE SANTAYANA LINES WRITTEN IN KENSINGTON GARDENS by MATTHEW ARNOLD THE MOTHER IN THE HOUSE by HERMANN HAGEDORN SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY: PETIT THE POET by EDGAR LEE MASTERS SPRING by EDNA ST.
