LEARNING STICK: 3. WITH ME, by JENNY FACTOR First Line: Into a rhythm ruled by kgrrrr and bprrrr Last Line: Lessons of my life I've learned alone. | |||
Into a rhythm ruled by kgrrrr and bprrrr, vibration I am born of, borne by, seated on the driver's side. The whoosh of heat is respiration to this solo drive. Winter ice, the mirroring of road gives me back my face my face my face, the sheen of headlights slicing as I brace my clutch foot with my gear hand in one motion. Driving's solitary, sealed, devotion that pounds my thinking into engine grime, detaching, reattaching, driving time meets meditation, speeding, shifting, slowed, responses to my body and the road lessons of my life I've learned alone. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE CONQUEROR'S GRAVE by WILLIAM CULLEN BRYANT NOTHING TO WEAR' by WILLIAM ALLEN BUTLER THE WISTFUL DAYS by ROBERT UNDERWOOD JOHNSON A SAD, SAD STORY by MOTHER GOOSE LAMENT OF THE MASTER ERSKINE by ALEXANDER SCOTT (1520-1590) HESPERIA by ALGERNON CHARLES SWINBURNE NUPTIAL SONG by JOHN BYRNE LEICESTER WARREN |
