PROTECTION, by MARIE FAIRCHILD First Line: If carelessly I turn my eyes Last Line: Burst from the fragile bounds of me. | |||
If carelessly I turn my eyes From sunset of resplendent gold; Or when a purple twilight awes I whistle tunes quite gay and bold. Or draw my shade some summer night To shut out moonlight's perfumed glow; Or stop my ears to symphony Of plaintive tones I dare not know. And close my heart quite frequently, To all of beauty's majesty; -- It is protection -- lest my soul Burst from the fragile bounds of me. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE FIGHTING RACE [FEBRUARY 16, 1898] by JOSEPH IGNATIUS CONSTANTINE CLARKE THE LAST SIGNAL by THOMAS HARDY ODES IV, 7.
