SILENCE, by LUCIUS MATLACK FALL First Line: Silence is magic / I hear her voice from Last Line: That reigns supreme -- alone with god. Subject(s): Solitude; Loneliness | |||
Silence is magic. I hear her voice from nature in repose. She calls me away from depression and from tumult. I am charmed by the soft cadence of her voice As I listen to her call and follow her beckoning. She leads me along the chiming brook; "Into green pastures, beside the still waters"; The playground of my childhood days; To the waving forests, planted by nature's own hand; The home of happy birds chirping in the branches; To the shimmering desert among the Joshuas and Cacti, In whose solitude you feel the silence That reigns supreme -- alone with God. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...IN ABEYANCE by DENISE LEVERTOV IN A VACANT HOUSE by PHILIP LEVINE SUNDAY ALONE IN A FIFTH FLOOR APARTMENT, CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS by WILLIAM MATTHEWS SILENCE LIKE COOL SAND by PAT MORA THE HONEY BEAR by EILEEN MYLES |
