TOYAHIKO KAGAWA, by INEZ E. FRANCK First Line: His joyous heart has touched the world with song Last Line: His love reveal the glory of japan. Subject(s): Kagawa, Toyohiko (1888-1960) | |||
His joyous heart has touched the world with song As in the quiet dawn he breathed a prayer; His dreams were deep -- his shining virtues strong That made aristocrat with workers share; His kindled soul has been a starry light To shine upon the ones who knew Him not; His faith has taught men through the darkest night To act together bettering their lot. Thus he has walked with God throughout the years Where pale sad faces lingered in the slums; Above the din he heard the call that cheers The piteous wanderer whenever he comes; O may his life still lift his fellow man, His love reveal the glory of Japan. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SLEEPING TOGETHER by KATHERINE MANSFIELD A POET'S EPITAPH by EBENEZER ELLIOTT AT THE CANNON'S MOUTH by HERMAN MELVILLE INDIAN NAMES by LYDIA HUNTLEY SIGOURNEY THE SHEPHEARDES CALENDER: FEBRUARY by EDMUND SPENSER IN MEMORIAM A.H.H.: 28 by ALFRED TENNYSON THE YEARS TO BE by WILLIAM ROSE BENET THE DAWN PATROL by PAUL BEWSHER PARLEYINGS WITH CERTAIN PEOPLE OF IMPORTANCE: FUST AND FRIENDS by ROBERT BROWNING |
