BE HUSH'D, by THOMAS HASTINGS Poet's Biography First Line: Be hush'd, my dear Last Line: Their vigils near thee keep. | |||
Be hush'd, my dear, Thy mother's near, Thou need'st no longer weep; Soft melody She sings to thee, Now close thine eyes in sleep. Be hush'd, my dear, Dry every tear, In sweetest quiet keep; O weep not so O'er infant woe, But close thine eyes in sleep. Be hush'd, my dear, No thought of fear Should break thy slumbers deep; Angels above, With wings of love, Their vigils near thee keep. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...EXHORTATION by THOMAS HASTINGS ON A FLOWER FROM THE FIELD OF GRUTLI by FELICIA DOROTHEA HEMANS NIGHT AND DAY by SIDNEY LANIER FIRST VOYAGE OF COLUMBUS by JOANNA BAILLIE THE LAMENT OF TASSO by GEORGE GORDON BYRON MAY BREEZES by MARY COLES CARRINGTON IMITATED FROM OSSIAN by SAMUEL TAYLOR COLERIDGE |
