IN MY DREAMS, by ANNIE ELIZABETH LOOMIS First Line: In that far off, mysterious realm which we call dreamland Last Line: Oh, blessed night, when I can sleep -- and dream -- and see! Subject(s): Dreams; Fantasy; Life; Sleep; Nightmares | |||
In that far off, mysterious realm which we call dreamland, Where sometimes things fantastic are -- and sometimes real as life itself, I gladly stay. For there the veiling mist which dims my waking eyes is swept away. Faces of those I loved through all the years, and those not less beloved now, come to me crystal-clear. My heart beats high with happiness. All that made me rich -- books, pictures, trees, flowers, birds, wide views of Nature's loveliness, The finest works of God and man, are mine again. Once more I joy in living. Oh, blessed night, when I can sleep -- and dream -- and see! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...VARIATIONS: 14 by CONRAD AIKEN VARIATIONS: 18 by CONRAD AIKEN LIVE IT THROUGH by DAVID IGNATOW A DREAM OF GAMES by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN THE DREAM OF WAKING by RANDALL JARRELL APOLOGY FOR BAD DREAMS by ROBINSON JEFFERS GIVE YOUR WISH LIGHT by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE MEASURE OF THE YEAR by JAMES GALVIN |
