ROME! who beheld the world before you bend, Those two famed heroes, mighty conquerors, Who on Thessalian plain their war did end, Truth, in the list of tyrants, blackly scores. You thought that Pompey armed for your defence, And was the prop of Rome's prosperity; Ambitious rivalry did both incense, And both took arms to prostrate Liberty.
