TREES IN YELLOWSTONE FOREST, by FLORENCE RILEY RADCLIFFE First Line: The silent generations hold you fast Last Line: A universe of beauty to renew! Subject(s): Beauty; Trees; Yellowstone National Park | |||
The silent generations hold you fast -- Primordial rocks from ages long since past -- Your roots lie deep within the ancient mould. You guess the secrets vanished stars have told; You plumb the hidden meaning of the years, The wounds of sorrow -- all its pain and tears. You know indwelling life, its ebb and flow; Each rhythmic melody, each mystic throe; And when the cycle comes full round you trace Your joy against the skies like filmy lace -- Your branches spilling over sun and dew -- A universe of beauty to renew! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE SLEEPING GIANT by WILLIAM STEWARD GORDON YELLOWSTONE PARK-THE SECOND PARADISE by WILLIAM STEWARD GORDON THE BURNING OF YELLOWSTONE by MONA VAN DUYN A LONG WAY OUTSIDE YELLOWSTONE by THOMAS MCGRATH CANYON OF THE YELLOWSTONE by BERTYE YOUNG WILLIAMS FOR REMEMBERING HOW TO LIVE WITHOUT YOU by JAMES GALVIN SONGS AND THE POET (FOR SARA TEASDALE) by LOUIS UNTERMEYER A CHILD'S EVENING PRAYER by SAMUEL TAYLOR COLERIDGE NINETY-NINE IN THE SHADE by ROSSITER JOHNSON FOR 'OUR LADY OF THE ROCKS' (BY LEONARDO DA VINCI) by DANTE GABRIEL ROSSETTI |
