SECURITY, by ELIZABETH VANDERVEER First Line: My mind has been searching for you Last Line: And leaves a heap of cooling embers at your feet. | |||
My mind has been searching for you Like a fragile, swinging vine, Searching in the wind for its host. I did not know the lineaments of your form Could mould such steadfast strength, Nor that your ash-grey hair vouched more security Than all the ardent vows of Youth, Whose sudden flame fades out with coming day And leaves a heap of cooling embers at your feet. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE HEART OF A WOMAN by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON THE FIRST GRAY HAIR by THOMAS HAYNES BAYLY MY MAGGIE'S NO MORE by JOHN BROWN (1810-1882) AUTUMN WIND by ALFRED D.
