ADRIFT, by ELIZABETH DICKINSON WEST First Line: Unto my faith, as to a spar, I bind Last Line: Come safe to land, and love be left behind. Alternate Author Name(s): Dowden, Mrs. Edward | |||
Unto my Faith, as to a spar, I bind My Love--and Faith and Love adrift I cast On a dim sea. I know not if at last They the eternal shore of God shall find. I only know that neither waves nor wind Can sunder them; the cords are tied so fast That Faith shall never--doubts and dangers past-- Come safe to land, and Love be left behind. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...CONTRA MORTEM: THE SUMMER by HAYDEN CARRUTH WRITTEN IN EMERSON'S ESSAYS by MATTHEW ARNOLD REMEMBERING NAT TURNER by STERLING ALLEN BROWN IMITATION OF CHAUCER by ALEXANDER POPE FOUR SONNETS: 2 by FRANK DAVIS ASHBURN SUBWAY by CLARA EXLINE BOCKOVEN |
