GLASS DISPLAY, by S. ELIZABETH WHITE First Line: See how the sunlight lingers on the rim Last Line: These testimonies writ in shining glass. | |||
See how the sunlight lingers on the rim Of this blown rose-jar like a golden kiss, And how this tall white vase is like a hymn Of quietude of soul, and strength, and bliss. Gaze in the frosty depths of this blue bowl Where all the mysteries of sea and sky Are mirrored wistfully: then, if man's soul Is withering in its house and like to die, Read me the answer how have come to pass These testimonies writ in shining glass. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE WIND'S VISIT by EMILY DICKINSON VICKSBURG by PAUL HAMILTON HAYNE AFTER DEATH by CHRISTINA GEORGINA ROSSETTI SONNET: 107 by WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE TO THE SOLITUDE OF FONTENAY by GUILLAUME AMFRYE CHRISTMAS LULLABY by MARY KATUS ANDERSON A WOMAN'S APOLOGY by ALFRED AUSTIN LINES WRITTEN ON A BLANK LEAD OF 'THE PLEASURES OF MEMORY' by GEORGE GORDON BYRON |
