I LOVE A WOOD, by DOROTHY WHITTINGTON First Line: I love a wood at eventide Last Line: To heaven's star-lit dome! Subject(s): Desire; Likes And Dislikes | |||
I love a wood at eventide, I love a starry sky; I love the loneliness of night I love the loon's low cry; But most I love my campfire's glow; Like some cathedral spire It seems to soothe and satisfy, Cleansing my desire. I love a crag at eventide, I love the fragrant pine; I love to worship where the stars Light the lake's deep shrine; But most I love my campfire's glow That makes my tent a home, And sends my dreams on wings of flame To heaven's star-lit dome! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...FORGOTTEN IS DECEMBER by MARY HELEN PAGE REVERSING THE FIGURES by JOHN GODFREY SAXE FOR SOME ...
