ENNUI, by LULU BRUNT DAWSON First Line: I tire of life as a human being Last Line: Too much of life as a human being. Subject(s): Boredom; Ennui | |||
I tire of life as a human being; Of the constant urge, the ever-fleeing From things that are and things to be, Of seeking peace to shelter me. Better for me had I remained A protozoan and obtained Sustenance by snatching -- fighting Other breeds that were inviting Vitamins. How joyfully I'd shirk accountability. I wish that I could have stayed put Unicellular -- a foot Beneath vacuity. I'm seeing Too much of life as a human being. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...TO TWO UNKNOWN LADIES by AMY LOWELL THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL by JOHN ASHBERY THE DREAM SONGS: 14 by JOHN BERRYMAN TWO OF A KIND by WALTER TALLMADGE ARNDT THE LORD OF THOULOUSE; A LEGEND OF LANGUEDOC by RICHARD HARRIS BARHAM |
