LIKE A FRIENDSHIP MARRED, by ANN WOODBURY HAFEN First Line: I once had an opaline dresden vase Last Line: Disfigures the lady's face. Subject(s): Vases | |||
I once had an opaline Dresden vase That pictured a lady in taffeta, lace. Who looked on Love with a wistful smile On her tender petal-face. A careless hand broke my Dresden vase, Shattered to pieces the taffeta, lace, Killed in a gesture the wistful smile On the lovely lady's face. With artist-skill we mended the vase, Bit by bit patched the taffeta, lace; But a crooked smile, like a friendship marred, Disfigures the lady's face. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE V-A-S-E by JAMES JEFFREY ROCHE ON A GREEK VASE by FRANK DEMPSTER SHERMAN QUATORZAINS: 6.
